Silvaner Classic

The Silvaner grape variety, which is widespread in Franconia, is a popular classic. The sandy soil of the sunny south side of Michaelsberg gives the “Bamberger Stiftsgarten” Silvaner a particularly beautiful note: dry, finely mineral with a clear, fruity aroma. Vintage 2023, dry, 12.0% vol.

Abbey beer

As a joint project between the Bamberg Citizens' Hospital Foundation and Hellerbräu, Bernsteinmärzen is brewed according to an original recipe from Bamberg's oldest brewery, the former Michaelsberg Brewery. The brewer there was Konrad Graser, who took over Hellerbräu in 1866. Today, the Franconian Brewery Museum is located here.

Traditional fruits such as blackberries, cornel cherries, mirabelle plums, and vineyard peaches give the “Bamberger Stiftsgarten” liqueurs their characteristic and unmistakable fruity note. Reusable cardboard box

Since the 2024 vintage, our Silvaner has been packaged in sturdy, reusable boxes for Bocksbeutel bottles instead of single-use cardboard boxes as before. Empty boxes are unfolded and then await their next use. When you purchase a six-pack of Silvaner from us, you pay a €1.50 deposit, which is refunded when you return the undamaged box to the abbey shops.

Around the orchards and forests

Fruit juice

The direct juice from ripe, hand-picked, and freshly harvested fruit contains no added sugar, preservatives, or artificial flavors. The apples from the former monastery orchards are used to create a product with 100% fruit content. Available in a 3-liter bag-in-box carton.

Fruit spreads

Depending on the season and harvest, we offer a variety of fruit spreads in our range. The “quince” variety is particularly popular. Gift sets and sample sets containing three small jars of different fruit varieties, such as elderberry, blackberry, and apple, are also available.

Honey

Several bee colonies are at home on Reuthersberg and in “Kellerholz,” a forest owned by the Bürgerspitalstiftung with a dense population of black locust trees near Breitengüßbach, and are cared for by a local beekeeper. Up to four varieties are produced from their honey. They are available as gift sets in 250g or 500g jars.

Game meat sales

Since summer 2021, game meat from the Bürgerspitalstiftung's forest property has been officially sold under the “Bamberger Stiftsgarten” brand in the Weipelsdorf farm shop.

Around the former monastery

Accessoires

The ceiling of the former monastery church of St. Michael is adorned with a painting of over 580 plants, which was created at the beginning of the 17th century. It is a very special kind of garden that has fascinated and inspired people since time immemorial. Sections of this plant world can be purchased on bags and other accessories.

Slate boards

In addition to the accessories, old slate slates from the roof of St. Michael's monastery church are cut to size at the Bamberg Lebenshilfe workshops and offered with various laser engravings of the Sky Garden plants or simple lettering, for example as labels for herb beds or as doorbell signs next to the front door.

Chenille towels

A masterpiece of architecture: the heavenly garden in St. Michael's monastery church – a masterpiece of weaving: the heavenly garden as a chenille towel
Initiated by the Bamberg-based company “Betten Friedrich,” the bathroom and home textiles manufacturer “Feiler” from Hohenberg an der Eger produced high-quality towels made from chenille yarn – entirely made in Germany.

Postcards and pads

Individual plants from the heavenly garden, such as pineapple, licorice, pepper, and mullein, are displayed in all their glory on postcard sets and notepads in a handy DIN A6 format.

"Screen"

Developed and assembled by Studio Minzi and manufactured by Lebenshilfe Bamberg, old slate tiles from the roof of St. Michael's Convent are given a new lease of life as a “picture surface.” The construction does not require any adhesive. A collection of unusable parquet floorboards is also available in our monastery shops.

Embroidery patterns

On the initiative of Wolllädla Bamberg, nine embroidery patterns of individual plants from the Sky Garden are available. The instructions have been created with great attention to detail by Wolllädla itself. Whether pineapple, pepper, or mullein, whether on clothing, cushions, or tablecloths—there are countless possibilities. The matching yarns are available at Wolllädla.

Saint Otto

A “Circular trail in the footsteps of St. Otto of Bamberg” and “The Otto tablets of St. Michael in Bamberg” provide entertaining information about the life and work of the popular bishop in Bamberg and his pilgrimages to what is now Poland.
In the 900th anniversary year of the first pilgrimage, you can purchase the set of both books for 12,00 €.

Bamberg wimmelt

As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Bamberg World Heritage Foundation, the book “Bamberg wimmelt” (Bamberg is teeming), whose first edition from 2016 is now out of print, has been reissued. Three new motifs—the eastern plateau on Michelsberg, the Böhmerwiese in Gärtnerstadt, and the Alte Hofhaltung during the Calderon Games—show further facets of the World Heritage Site.
