Bamberg Citizens' Hospital Foundation
The Bürgerspitalstiftung is the largest and oldest foundation administered by the City of Bamberg. Its purpose is to provide care for the elderly. The foundation’s most famous ‘landmark’ is St Michael’s Church, together with the former Benedictine abbey, the vineyard and the orchard meadows. Following its complete renovation, St Michael’s is now open again from Friday to Sunday and on public holidays from 11 am to 4 pm.
Your visit to Michaelsberg
The former Abbey Church of St Michael will be open from 1 May, Friday to Sunday and on public holidays, from 11 am to 4 pm. The inner courtyard and gardens are accessible to visitors at all times. However, due to the sprawling Baroque grounds on the hillside, barrier-free access to the gardens cannot be guaranteed.
As part of guided tours and events, visits to the vineyard on the southern slope may also be arranged.
