Welcome to the

Bamberg Civic Hospital Foundation

The Civic Hospital Foundation is the largest and oldest foundation administered by the city of Bamberg. Its purpose is to provide assistance to the elderly. The foundation's most famous “landmark” is St. Michael's Church with the former Benedictine abbey, the vineyard, and the orchards. On this website, we invite you to learn more about the foundation, St. Michael's Church, and the Bamberg Abbey Garden, and to find out about upcoming events and the latest news.

Planning

Your visit to Michaelsberg

Due to extensive construction work, access to the monastery church is currently not possible. The courtyard and gardens are open to visitors at all times. However, due to the expansive Baroque complex on the hillside, barrier-free access to the gardens cannot be guaranteed.
Guided tours and events also offer the opportunity to visit the vineyard on the southern slope.

Our Bamberg monastery shop with café and information center awaits you in the courtyard.
